The café bar is on the first floor of our stunning building with panoramic views of the marina basin and its narrowboats on one side, and with views of The Ashby Canal, the marina wildlife area and our towpath bridge on the other sides.
The Ashby Canal was opened in 1804.
In 1794 Parliament passed the act to allow work to begin on The Ashby Canal. Work then began and this historic waterway was completed in 1804. The 30 mile long canal was originally used to haul coal and limestone from Moira and coal was hauled along 'The Moira Cut' until 1981.
